So you’ve enjoyed your New Year’s Eve celebrations appropriately, and you wake up on New Year’s Day with an empty stomach and a bit of a hangover. What to do? Head out for some brunch, of course. Ring in the new year with your family and head out to one of these great brunch spots. Each offers a cure for that morning hangover. From greasy bacon and carb-filled pancakes to healthier alternatives like eggs and salads, there are lots of options to cure your hunger. Plus, you can usually get a bit of the “hair of the dog” and enjoy a Bloody Mary or mimosa, though you’ll probably want to head home and take a nice long nap afterwards.

Prepare for a bit of a wait at Jelly, but the wait is more than worth it. Once you taste the amazing doughnut holes, Benedicts, hashes and French toast, you’ll be a fan of Jelly too. You can even get gluten-free pancakes here, for those of you that need a bread-less option for brunch. For the morning-after cure, make sure to order a Bloody Mary salad, which comes with enough garnish to be a meal on its own, or the shrimp cocktail, a Bloody with three shrimp. Either is the perfect hangover cure and pair perfectly with your eggs and bacon.

Toast is another very popular brunch spot and a perfect choice for a morning-after-too-much-alcohol meal. Toast serves a huge brunch menu which includes eight different Benedicts, several different breakfast burritos, lots of omelets, French toast and pancakes to die for. The pancake flavors includes such tasty treats as key lime cheesecake pancakes, bananas foster and Oreo cookie. Sure, they may taste like dessert, but heyit’s pancakes, so it counts as breakfast. If you prefer lunch to brunch, you’ll find plenty of sandwiches and salads.

Table 6 gets lots of much deserved attention for its carefully selected and truly delicious brunch menu. Executive chef Carrie Shores has spent six years honing her style of simple, elegant cuisine. Her brunch menu includes chicharone tacos, French toast, smoked belly, mussels and even chili duck hash served with butternut squash. Table 6 elevates the traditional eggs and bacon brunch to an elegant affair but still keeps things approachable and very tasty. Make sure to get those reservations in early or you’ll miss out on this great brunch option.

Sassafras American Eatery is located in a quaint historic home in north Denver. It’s a small and doesn’t take reservations, so make sure you have plenty of time to wait for a table.But the wait is totally worth it with great twists on classic country kitchen fare. The banana custard brioche French toast is a popular choice  as are the different Benedicts including fried green tomato Benedict or the cajun Benedict. And you might not think of it as breakfast food but be sure to save room a milkshake, you’ll start your day with one of the best in town.

For a great brunch option in the Westminster area, try Early Bird Restaurant on Bradburn Boulevard. Early Bird puts a healthier spin on breakfast but you can still find plenty of carb-y goodness for your day-after hangover.
