Nerdy Nights: Top Events For Geeks In Denver

Denver is home to many fantastic events that cater to the geeky crowd. It seems more of Denver is embracing they're inner nerd, hitting intellectually stimulating events in their spare time. Whether it be cocktails at a local museum, astronomy observations or ping pong, there is something fun to do. And don't forget about the extraordinarily fun Denver Comic Con that is held each year. Below are a few ideas that geeks in Denver will be excited to attend.

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science hosts The Science Lounge every third Thursday of the month between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The museum has many geeky things to experience during this fun monthly event. Each event features entertainment, cocktails and appetizers, all while basking in some mind-expanding science. Come out and enjoy this chance to mingle with fellow geeks.

The Denver Art Museum hosts a final Friday event each month to provide visitors with a different museum experience. Come out from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and enjoy "new insight into the DAM collection, art making activities, cash bar and more." The next event on March 29 will be produced in collaboration with Opera Colorado. Enjoy a performance from the talented musicians and get a closer lok at the museum's collections.

The Chamberlin Observatory is located at the University of Denver. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of Denver's most interesting buildings. The observatory features nights each month that are open to the public. Here you can come learn all about astronomy and get telescopic views of the nighttime sky. The next public event will be held on March 13 at 8 p.m.

Zing is Denver's premier table social club. If you are into ping pong, or ever wanted to try ping pong, this is the place to go. Spring isn't quite here yet, and it's cold outside, so this is a perfect thing to do with friends. There are leagues available and several tournaments, including a round-robin tournament in the near future.

Denver Comic Con is one of the best geeky things to do each year in Denver. It will be held from May 31 through June 2 at the Colorado Convention Center. This year George Takai and Will Wheaton will "beam down" to the Convention Center and Felicia Day will be sharing her magic. But the star of the show? Stan Lee is the Guest of Honor. There will also be a 75th year anniversary celebration of Superman. So mark your calendars to be a part of this fantastic Denver event.
