5 Things In Denver That Exist Nowhere Else In The US

Denver is about as unique as it gets when it comes to big cities. We're a mile above sea level, are home to one of the most diverse populations in the country, and can experience all four seasons in a single day. Not only that, but we are one of the few places where you can swim the first half of the day and ski the second half, are one of only 12 cities to house four major sports teams and the cheeseburger was invented here. Along with these quirky facts, there are a few things and activities that you can only do in the Mile High City. Here are five things that exist in Denver, but nowhere else in the U.S.
Colfax AvenueHighways, interstates, etc. can sometimes be thousands of miles long, however, what's the longest street in America?  The answer is Colfax Avenue, and it's found right in the heart of Denver. It stretches 26 miles long and contains just about everything you could possibly imagine from art galleries to restaurants, to car dealerships, to music venues and everything in between. It's got more culture on its sidewalks than most cities have across their entire grid, which is why it's one of the most unique streets in the country.
Ballsy BeerIt sounds crazy, but where can you find a beer made with real animal testicles? Denver, of course. In the Mile High City, Rocky Mountain Oysters are revered as a true Denver delicacy, and at the Wynkoop brewery, they've concocted their very own "Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout." Each batch is made with 25 pounds of a bull's pride and joy, and makes this one of the wackiest, most unique brews on the planet.
Red Rocks AmphitheaterThere's a reason people from all over the world flock to Morrison, Colorado each summer to see their favorite artists, and that reason is because there is no other place like Red Rocks Amphitheater. Outlined by Ship, Stage and Creation Rock, Red Rocks is one of the most recognizable (and busy) music venues on the planet. It's something that we take pride in here in Denver, because nowhere else can you find an amphitheater that can house upwards of 10,000 attendees, overlooks an entire city and is made out of natural rock formations.

The Great American Beer FestivalEach year, the Great American Beer Festival returns to Denver for a weekend in October, and there's a reason it's housed here. Denver is known as the "Napa Valley Of Beer," and is home to over 240 different micro-breweries. Nowhere else can you find as much beer per capita as you'll find in Denver during the Great American Beer Festival. Sure, there are other beer festivals that take place throughout the states, but none of them compare to the variety and the magnitude of the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.
Rose Onyx
It's only fitting that our Capitol Building be as unique as our city, and thankfully it is. Not only is the top of it plated with real gold, but the entire world's supply of Rose Onyx was used in the construction of the building. So if you want to see something in Denver that you literally cannot see anywhere else in the world, head to the Capitol.Related: Top Hand-Blown Glass Decorations In Denver
