FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Leaders in Fort Collins are trying to avoid a water shortage and are putting mandatory watering restrictions in place across the city.

The restrictions go into effect on Oct. 1 and includes the following measures:

– No lawn watering
– No residential car washes

The city cited the ongoing drought, the Cameron Peak Fire to the west and repairs to the water system as reasons for the change.
