FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers responded to an SUV that drove into the Arkansas River near Cotopaxi in Fremont County. They say the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

The vehicle landed on its tires, and the driver was not seriously hurt, officials said.

River rangers say it’s fortunate the vehicle didn’t spill any liquids into the river.

The SUV was plucked out of the river and placed back onto U.S. 50.

  1. How do you fall asleep driving along the Arkansas there? It’s not like U.S. 50 is a boring straightaway anywhere in the vicinity of Cotopaxi.
