Coronavirus In Colorado: DPS To Hand Out In-Home Learning Technology To Families
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Public Schools announced its plan to distribute thousands of laptops and tablets to students and their families. The students are learning from home because of the coronavirus pandemic.
A schedule is in place for certain school distributions. For instance, Brown International will have distribution pick up on March 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The transition to remote learning will begin on April 7. According to the district, about 20,000 students do not have access to a computer or the internet.
The goal is to ensure every child has the tools and the technology to learn from home. The technology distribution will continue through Friday. Parents are asked to check their child's school for specifics on timing.
When families pick up the technology, officials are asking them to minimize social contact with others and not congregate on the premises or playgrounds. They add you may pick up devices for friends or family members.
DPS is asking parents to remain in vehicles in possible. Drivers can simply pop their trunks to pick up the laptops and tablets.

As CBS4's Dominic Garcia reported on Monday, DPS asked parents to fill out a technology survey in order to get the technology needed for in-home learning.
