LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – A fatal crash involving a pedestrian took place early Monday morning in Lakewood. The accident happened on eastbound 6th Avenue near Sheridan Boulevard.

Police told CBS4 the driver of the vehicle that struck the adult woman stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. The woman who was struck and killed has not been identified.

Police to not anticipate any charges.

“Sixth Avenue is a high speed highway, a main thorough fare to downtown Denver all the way up to I-70 up into the mountains at high speeds. It’s very dangerous to be out on foot on,” said Paul Osckel with the Lakewood Police Department.

Eastbound 6th Avenue was shut down during the investigation of the morning commute.
