Coloradan Deyon Sizer Hopes To Make The Broncos Cut

By Justin Adams

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Denver Broncos training camp is winding down, but for some players just being on the practice field has been a dream come true.

Deyon Sizer is an undrafted player from Colorado who's hoping to beat the odds and make the final Broncos team.

"It's honestly an amazing experience to be here. It's surreal. Growing up here, going to college and being able to play for the home team, the feeling is truly indescribable," Sizer told CBS4.

Sizer grew up in Aurora, and played high school football at Eaglecrest High School. He didn't have the chance to play college ball with the Buffs or the Rams, so he went the Division II route. He played at Colorado State Pueblo, where he won a National Championship. Now he's hoping to win a Super Bowl with Von Miller and Derek Wolfe.

"I used to come to the practices and watch them so it's like being on the other side of the line, the feeling is indescribable. It truly is. I used to watch Wolfe and Von and so to call them teammates is truly indescribable," Sizer explained.

Making the team won't be easy for Sizer. He faces an uphill battle because he's an undersized defensive tackle, but he plays with a chip on his shoulder and the veteran players have taken notice.

"One thing that I like about D is that he asks questions, 'How was that rep?' or 'How can I get better with this?' And if you do that and become a student of the game, a little bit of talent, a little bit of hard work, and the sky's the limit," said Broncos defensive end, Zach Kerr.

"He's not a bad player, it's just the change in level of competition. You have to understand the change in speed, but he's getting it, he's getting it like any of the rookies. So mad respect to him, but he's definitely going out there and proving himself," said Broncos nose tackle Shelby Harris.

Sizer hopes that his hard work will pay off. He wants to become another local player to wear the orange and blue.

"It would be a great dream come true, and that's what I'm working towards right now. And that's everybody's dream to make the final 53 roster. And I'm just grinding it out every day and we'll see how the coaches make their final decisions and we'll see how it goes," Sizer said.
