Fugitive Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a fugitive dead. The shooting happened Tuesday in the area of Belleview and Alkire.
No officers have been injured in the shooting.
Jeffco Sheriff's Office says there is no danger to the public, but they are asking that people avoid the area. There are closures around Belleview and Alkire.
The man shot was a fugitive from Denver wanted for felony menacing and possession of a weapon. The fugitive unit tracked him to an apartment complex, said he was approached but fired a weapon at officers. Those officers then returned fire. He did not survive.
The fugitive has not been identified.
