JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - An 18-year-old driver is dead after crashing into a traffic signal pole in Jefferson County. It happened near the intersection of Ken Caryl Avenue and South Kendall Boulevard shortly after 2 a.m.
A sedan struck a traffic pole. The 18-year-old was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The driver has not been identified.
The crash also damaged the traffic signal. The intersection was closed while the signal was repaired. It was reopened several hours after the crash.
It's not clear what led up to the crash but authorities do say they don't suspect drugs or alcohol.
There was so much debris from the crash that initially investigators believed the sedan struck other vehicles before crashing into the pole.
