Middle School In Greeley Closed Due To Norovirus Outbreak

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A public middle school in northeast Colorado has been closed for two days in an effort to stop the spread of a norovirus outbreak. A news release from Greeley-Evans School District 6 says Franklin Middle School in Greeley was closed Thursday and Friday and scheduled to reopen Monday.

District Superintendent Deirdre Pilch says the district is following the protocols and precautions recommended by the Weld County Health Department.

The Greeley Tribune reports that more than 100 students were reported sick Wednesday, and several staff as well. The illness appears to have begun this past Friday, when more students than is typical for the school were reported sick.

Crews cleaned and disinfected the school last weekend and throughout the week but students and staff continued to get sick.
