Plan Ahead For Busy, Wet Sunday In Downtown Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - The streets in downtown Denver will be crowded on Sunday, and Denver police want you to be prepared.

First, thousands of runners and joggers will be racing through downtown and the Five Points Neighborhood toward Civic Center Park for the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k. The race starts at 7 a.m.

Then, the Colorado Rockies face the Milwaukee Brewers for Game 3 of the National League Division Series. The game starts at 2:37 p.m.

The high temperature is expected to be around 61 degrees with possible afternoon/evening thunderstorms.

DPD offers the following tips:

  • Utilize mass transit – RTD provides many options for transit. Check out the best route by visiting www.rtd-denver.com.
  • Carpool – either with a designated driver or a ride share service. Fewer cars on the roads and highways means less traffic, plus it removes the risk of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol – making it safer for all! Please ensure you enter and exit ride share vehicles in safe areas and away from traffic.
  • Allow extra time – If driving, plan for extra time to arrive and park.
  • Ride your bike, or use bike sharing – There is bicycle parking around Coors Field near Gates A, B and E.
