COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)– Police in Colorado Springs cleared out 12 tons of garbage from homeless camps.

The camps were spread out across several acres near Las Vegas Street and Tejon Street in Colorado Springs.

Crews filled at least four dumpsters with trash and debris.

Last month, firefighters battled massive flames at a homeless camp after multiple propane tanks exploded and started a fire.

  1. 12 tons. so not even a full truck load (those tend to be 25 tons). “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” I’m not disputing that homeless people can harbor things that would make them sick, and they have trouble cleaning up after themselves. Why don’t you all actually climb down out of your HOA neighborhood pedestal, show some respect for a different means of survival, and do interviews with some homeless people. Find out about their lifestyle. That broken wagon in the picture above may have been someone’s only form of hauling life necessities back to their campsite, in other words, NOT trash to them. I see bikes in there too. So, you consider someone’s only form of transportation, trash? Guys, this story could have been done so much better but instead you went for the inflammatory drama-laden shock value.
