AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – One person is dead after a semi truck collided with a sedan that authorities believe was going the wrong way on Interstate 70.

The crash happened at approximately 3 a.m. Friday morning in Aurora where Interstate 70 meets Colfax Avenue, south of Denver International Airport.

The sedan driver was killed after the car was crushed under the truck.

It took hours to first remove the wrecked car, then get the truck upright.

The crash caused some backups during the morning rush hour but because the vehicles wound up off the highway, it didn’t lead to any extended highway closures.

The name of the driver who died hasn’t been released.
