Warmer Temperatures With Dry Conditions

By Lauren Whitney

Warmer temperatures continue to climb here in Colorado as an Arctic air mass continues to head east. We jumped 10 degrees in Denver on Wednesday to hit a high of 53.

Dry conditions once again prevail, and will through the rest of the week. We could really use the snow as uur statewide snowpack is only half of what it typically is by early January. Right now we are at 54% of average.

There is some hope on the horizon, as the mountains could see snow this weekend. Snow could start on Saturday afternoon and last through Sunday. We aren’t expecting a ton, we could see 3 to 6 inches of snow.

For Denver and the Front Range, it seems unlikely we’ll see much more than a few rain drops or flurries on Sunday. Plus, the system will be coming from the west instead of the north (like the storms over the holidays) and therefore temperatures won’t change much. All we expect is a 10 to 15 degree drop.
