DURANGO, Colo (CBS4) – A large black bear ignored visiting hours this week at the La Plata County Jail.

Before dawn on the 4th of July, the very independent bruin climbed the fencing on the jail’s northwest side.

The sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post that it “just cant ‘bear’ crime.”

No charges have been filed at this time.

We’ve not heard whether any inmates ask for yard time during the visit, either.
