1st Time In 30 Years For NFL: Woman To Do Play-By-Play For Broncos Game

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman will call the play-by-play in an NFL football game for the first time in about 30 years.

Reports say ESPN's Beth Mowins will call the Denver Broncos game against the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 11. It's a Monday night game at Mile High Stadium.

Mowins has called college football games and for the Oakland Raiders in the preseason. She's set to be joined by Rex Ryan, the former coach for the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

The last woman to call play-by-play for an NFL regular season game was Gayle Sierens who called the Seahawks vs Chiefs on the final Sunday of the 1987 season. Sierens retired in 2015 after a career as a news anchor in Tampa, Fla.
