New Type Of Uber Service Debuts In Colorado Ski Towns

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - People in Colorado's high country who don't want to deal with the parking at ski resorts have a new option for getting to the slopes.

Uber has been available for the past year or so in many mountain towns, but now there's a new service called uberSKI that people can request in Breckenridge, Vail and Aspen.

With uberSKI, passengers can expect a vehicle that always fits at least four people and has space to fit ski and snowboard gear.

"So they'll be able to put their snowboards, their skis, their boots, everything in the vehicle and then use it to get around," said Uber spokeswoman Taylor Patterson. "So that's really the point is that folks can leave the car at home, skip the congested parking lots, have that beer when they're done with their last run and not have to worry about driving."

The service works in the same way Uber's normal service does. Users will need to download the Uber app onto their phone.

Uber says it hopes to have the special service available in other mountain towns soon.
