Avalanche Danger Ranges From Moderate To High

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Avalanche warnings remain in effect in parts of the high country, ranging from moderate to high.

Eleven avalanches were reported on Sunday from Aspen to Vail and the San Juan Mountain Range.

Experts say recent snowfall contributed to the dangerous conditions.

"We have high avalanche danger as you can tell, obviously you can tell right now the wind is blowing, we have a lot of snow moving around and we have seen two to four feet of snow. We're building a really big slab on top of some weak snow on the ground, it's really dangerous out there," said Colorado Avalanche Information Center spokesman Jason Konigsberg. "We really recommend that people stay out of the back country or at least avoid avalanche terrain."
