Earth-To-Space Call Connects Astronaut To Students

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- Students at Wheat Ridge High School got a special visit from space on Friday.

The school hosted an Earth-to-space call with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.

Expedition 50 Commander Shane Kimbrough answered questions from students about life in space.

"On your current mission, what is the most interesting science experiment that you're working on?" asked one student.

"Great question. We've been here three weeks so we haven't gotten into most of the science experiments we're going to do on board. We have about 200 experiments that our crew is going to do over the next 3-4 months," said Kimbrough. I'm also growing some plants on board, lettuce, cabbage, is going really well so far... that's the most interesting thing."

Kimbrough set out for the space station Oct. 19. He's due back on Earth in February 2017.
