"We know we can't change that he's elected and president, but that doesn't mean that we can't fight for what we have to say," said student Karsyne Lane.

School administrators said it's their job to keep the students safe so they accompanied them on the walkout.

"We do want to do this on campus but we respect them enough to let them have their voice and events like this," said Denver Public Schools spokesman Will Jones.

Students said the protest was organized mostly to tell the president-elect that illegal immigrants living in this country are valuable.

"How valuable immigrants and undocumented are to this country. I know a lot of people say they're taking from the system when we're contributing so much to it," said student Chartri Phinpraphate.
