Wade Phillips: 'I Get The Big Hit Award For The Week!'

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - After taking a big hit in Sunday's game, Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is back in the office Monday.

And he brought his sense of humor with him.

"They say it was a collision on the sideline," Phillips tweeted. "But actually I got run over."

"I get the big hit award for the week!" he added.

Head Coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that Phillips is doing great.

"He just left my office a few minutes ago. He had a big smile on his face," Broncos Vice President of Public Relations Patrick Smyth tweeted, quoting Kubiak.

The 69-year-old Phillips was carted off the field during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers after taking a big hit on the sidelines.

The Broncos said that Phillips "fell backward and hit his head after impact."

He was taken to the hospital for tests, where he watched the remainder of the game, and released Sunday evening.

Phillips thanked everyone for their concern, assuring fans he's okay "and back to work at what [he] loves."
