What a fun experience! Nutrition is something everyone knows is important to being a successful athlete but sometimes it’s so hard!! One reason why this was a piece of our training, I was really looking forward to.
While whipping up some tasty energy bites we had the opportunity to pick the brain of a nutrition expert, Amanda Turner of Active Fueling. Eating carbohydrates before a race and loading up on protein following a workout are things I knew before the lesson. Learning how much to eat & when to eat before a race are all things that I didn’t know and I will take with me to the start line (crossing my fingers will also help me get to the finish line).

On top of learning so much about nutrition, I also walked away with a new recipe that is so simple! I’ve already made the energy bites again since our lesson and they are so great! Not only are they easy to take with me when I’m running around covering breaking news but they save me a ton of money, compared to buying protein bars.
The whole experience has made me so much aware of what I’m eating and I already feel better throughout the day.
