Warm Up Will Boost Fire Danger

By Dave Aguilera

DENVER (CBS4) - Our first weekend of October is smooth sailing. High pressure will be bringing in warm temperatures along with breezy conditions over the state on Sunday. There will be just enough moisture for a few isolated storms in the mountains and west by afternoon. However, over the eastern plains the flow will be down slope and should limit the east to just a few dry, gusty, storms late.

By the way the Broncos are facing big time heat and humidity in Tampa Bay. The forecast there calls for a high near 90 and a few thunderstorms during the game.

This warming trend will continue through Monday. But, with the advance of a deep low pressure trough over the west coast Colorado will be caught in the middle with gusty west southwesterly winds. This will increase the fire danger on Monday with warmer temperatures.

Tuesday will ring in our first cool down for October. Temperatures will slowly start to drop Tuesday through the end of the week. With a better chance for rain arriving by Thursday.
