SILVERTON, Colo. (CBS4) – It just turned Autumn but skiing is already underway in Colorado’s high country.
Silverton Mountain ski patrollers were able to hit the slopes on Saturday after a low pressure system dropped enough snow.
READ MORE: Colorado Musicians Eager For Larger Audiences, But Relish With Small Crowds“The ski patrollers could not resist the opportunity to jump on the chairlift today to make some turns on the upper mountain as they celebrated the start of the 15th anniversary season at Silverton Mountain,” Jen Brill with Silverton Mountain said in a statement.

Silverton Mountain is Colorado’s highest elevation ski area. The opening date is expected to be in December but if it keeps snowing it could open earlier.
