LONSDALE, Minn. (CBS4) – A restaurant owner is upset, and is making sure his feelings are clear, telling all Muslims to get out.
Following the attacks that happened in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Treats Family Restaurant owner Dan Reudinger posted a sign outside his eatery that reads “Muslims Get Out.”
A second line reads “In Support Of St. Cloud.”
Reudinger tells CBS Minnesota that the sign has led to some backlash, but his business did so well the day he posted it that he had to call in three extra workers.
“It’s time that people started standing up, not worrying about the PC crowd and do what is right,” Ruedinger told CBS Minnesota. “And I feel that what we’re doing is right.”
Ruedinger says he’s not targeting Muslims in general, but the extremists.
“And that’s all I can say. It’s my right and I’m going to stand up, and I wish more people would do it.”
Monday, after the sign was posted, a group protested outside the restaurant.
“I get it, it’s his right to say what he wants to say,” Payten Estepp said. “But that’s giving Lonsdale a bad rap to everyone that drives by on 19, which is a very busy road, so people are going to see that and they’re going to think Lonsdale as a whole, as a community, is as crass as that sign.”
Ruedinger has no plans to take down or change the sign.
Lonsdale is located south of Minneapolis, just under a two hour drive from St. Cloud.
