Bronco Derek Wolfe Injures Ankle, Leaves Practice

By Mark Haas

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe left Wednesday morning's practice with an apparent ankle injury.

Wolfe had to be helped off the field, and was putting very little weight on his leg on his way to the locker room.

Teammate Sylvester Williams was nearby when Wolfe went down and he immediately took a knee and threw his arms up.

Head coach Gary Kubiak said Wolfe "rolled his ankle." Kubiak didn't see the play, and the trainers are evaluating.

T.J. Ward said it was scary to see Wolfe go down, especially with losing Vance Walker earlier this week.

Vance Walker, another important defensive end, is out for the season due to injury.

Wolfe signed a four-year contract extension with the Broncos in January.
