5 Broncos Who Have Turned Heads At Training Camp

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - The quarterback competition has mostly dominated the headlines coming out of Broncos training camp this year, but several players at other positions have quietly been having great training camps.

Here are five players who have stood out:

Cody Latimer
For the past two years wide receiver Cody Latimer hasn't gotten many targets in the regular season (8 career receptions, to be exact). So it was a bit of a surprise to see him getting seven catches for 82 yards and leading all Broncos receivers against the Bears. Latimer, a former second round pick, has excelled on special teams in previous seasons but could be a much bigger part of the offensive scheme this year. "He's a big, strong athlete and is good after the run," said Broncos radio play-by-play announcer Dave Logan on Xfinity Monday Live. "I was glad to see him step up with relatively easy passes but then do something with it after the catch (on Thursday)."

Will Parks
"I'm just ready to get out there and get after it," said safety Will Parks at the outset of training camp. And he has done just that. The sixth-rounder out of Arizona had a good game Thursday, including a sack of Bears quarterback David Fales, and followed that up with an interception of Broncos rookie QB Paxton Lynch during practice on Monday.

Virgil Green
Green could be poised for a very productive year with the Broncos. The tight end was the team's second-most targeted receiver against the Bears last week, and he has had several good days at practice. Perhaps his best one was on Aug. 4 when he made several big red zone catches. "I just have to be consistent and show that I can do those things every day," he said afterwards. "It's all about living in the moment and taking advantage of your opportunities, and that's what I did today." Green is known for his blocking skills, but Logan said his pass receiving abilities are somewhat underappreciated. Look for that to change this season.

Lorenzo Doss
Lorenzo Doss has been coming on strong late in camp and is fighting hard for a spot on the team. The cornerback out of Tulane who was drafted in the fifth round in 2015 appeared in six games last season, mostly working on special teams. He had an interception last Thursday in Chicago and he recorded another pick in practice on Tuesday.

Devontae Booker

Devontae Booker
Running back Devontae Booker is listed along with Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart as a backup to C.J. Anderson. Not bad for a fourth round pick who still has some pass blocking issues to work out. Booker has exuded confidence from the moment he arrived at Broncos headquarters and his fighting spirit has been on display all throughout camp. The rookie out of Utah could be a big surprise this season.
