Mountain Lion Spotted At Santa's Workshop Amusement Park
CASCADE, Colo. (CBS4) - Parts of an amusement park on Pikes Peak have been closed after a mountain lion sighting last week.
A ride operator at North Pole Colorado Santa's Workshop spotted the animal near the Ferris wheel. The operators aren't taking any chances, and wildlife officials said that's the right thing to do.
"He said that he thought that it looked like it was keying in on a child. He did everything the right way, he went and got help and reported it," said Kyle Davidson of Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
"It's a little nerve-racking actually. But I appreciate the steps they're taking, by closing off the paths, and so that people can still enjoy it," said a park visitor.
The park, northwest of Colorado Springs, is in prime mountain lion habitat. The mountain lion may have been attracted to the park by the reindeer that live there.
No one has seen the big cat since that original sighting
