Armored Truck Attempted Robbery Suspect Appears In Court
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The man accused of trying to rob an armored truck outside a Wells Fargo bank in Aurora and exchanging gunfire with the guard appeared in court on Tuesday morning.
The suspect has been identified as Carl Rumph, 38. He was injured during an exchange of gunfire with an armored truck guard on Monday morning.
Police believe Rumph tried to rob the Brinks Security truck at 999 South Sable Boulevard just before 8 a.m. Monday.
The security guard was not hurt in the shooting but Rumph suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say he ran to a nearby apartment complex while trailing blood. Officers followed his blood trail and found him. He surrendered to police and was rushed to the hospital.
Authorities are not sure who fired first.
Rumph appeared in Arapahoe County Court on Tuesday morning.
