Boulder's Jonathon Kaye Has Great Final Round At Colorado Open But Can't Catch Neil Johnson
GREEN VALLEY RANCH, Colo. (CBS4) – The Colorado Open at Green Valley Ranch has been kind to Colorado golfers who have won it 27 times, but Boulder's Jonathon Kaye couldn't catch up to Wisconsin's Neil Johnson.
Kaye entered the final round Sunday tied for fifth. He shot a 66 and finished tied for second.
Johnson shot seven under on Sunday to become the 2016 CoBank Colorado Open champion.
"It's by far my signature win, and yeah, the feeling to actually make the put and realize, 'Hey, you've got it … there's not going to be a playoff, there's not going to be anything, it's yours,'" Johnson said. "Obviously it hasn't completely sunk in. The money hasn't sunk in, but the fact that I won on this course with this field – that felt good."
