Car Crash Leads To Discovery Of Homemade Bomb In Basalt
BASALT, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a car crash related to a domestic dispute led them disable a homemade bomb found in a home in Basalt.
The bizarre chain of events started when a man called 911 to report the crash Sunday. When police showed up, 28-year-old Dustin Brown was gone but a woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police say she told them that Brown had made an explosive device in their home.
Police say she allowed them to search the home and they removed the device and disposed of it.
Police say Brown was later arrested in Grand Junction on a national warrant but didn't provide any details about what he was wanted for.
He is being held in the Mesa County jail. It's not known if he has a lawyer.
