CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A Colorado woman was killed in a rafting accident Sunday on the Arkansas River.

Sandra Johnson, 51, was from Littleton. Investigators say she was on a commercial rafting trip with River Runners about 15 miles outside of Salida when her raft hit a rock in the Browns Canyon area, a section with class 4 rapids.

Johnson was thrown from the raft, then pulled to safety and CPR attempts were made. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the first rafting death in Chaffee County of the 2016 season.
