Autopsy Reveals Details About Deadly Shooting In Bailey

BAILEY, Colo. (CBS4)- Autopsy results have revealed details about the deadly February shooting of a Park County Sheriff's deputy and the gunman.

Park County Corporal Nate Carrigan was killed in the shootout with Martin Wirth when they tried to serve an eviction notice. Two other Park County deputies were shot but survived and Wirth died in the gunbattle.

The autopsy shows that Wirth had marijuana in his system when he died. He was also shot 11 times.

The report states that Carrigan died from a single gunshot that caused injuries to his heart and lung. Even though Carrigan was wearing a bullet proof vest, the round traveled through an area on his body not protected by his vest.
