DUI Suspect Accused Of Killing Cyclist Has Prior DWAI

By Andrea Flores

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Police say Callie Kuhasz was drunk behind the wheel when she hit and killed a father of three Saturday in Boulder. Police records show it's not the first time she's been accused of drunk driving.

Police say the 24-year-old swerved into a bike lane near 30th and Jay in Boulder, hitting and killing cyclist Bill Davis.

"The first thing I saw is that they're getting away, and the first thing I thought is Bill has three kids and that person just left him to die," said cyclist Mike Dunbar.

Dunbar was on a ride with Davis that afternoon and watched the alleged drunk driver, later identified as Kuhasz, get away.

Boulder Police records reveal an uncooperative Kuhasz was located near 9th and Spruce with bloodshot eyes and a 30 pack of beer. Only five beers were left unopened.

"Did she not realize she just killed somebody?" Dunbar asked.

Records show Kuhasz is on probation for a March DWAI in Boulder and has a prior 2014 DUI charge in Texas that was later dismissed, according to Boulder Police.

Kuhasz appeared in court on Monday where the judge set her bond at $200,000. She is facing charges of vehicular homicide and DUI.

Dunbar says he's outraged the alleged drink driver was on the road to begin with.

"I just want to hear her say she's sorry and realize what she did," said Dunbar. "Bill's kids won't see their father ever again."

But even more than an apology, Dunbar says he just wants to remind motorists to be responsible on the road.

"Don't drink and drive," Dunbar said.
