Bicyclist Killed In Boulder County Hit & Run Crash

By Andrea Flores

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A Boulder woman is in custody after the Colorado State Patrol says she hit and killed a cyclist, and then fled.

CSP says it all started just after 5 p.m. Saturday when two cyclists were heading westbound near 30th Street and Jay Road in Boulder.

Authorities say Callie Kuhasz, 24, was driving behind the bicyclists when she swerved, hitting and killing William Davis, 35, of Boulder.

Kuhasz fled from the scene, but was located by Boulder police near 11th and Spruce. She was taken to the Boulder County Jail by CSP.

Byron Hewett lives in the area and watched the whole scene unfold.

"I noticed the EMTs were working on whoever it was, and then after a while they stopped and so obviously when they stopped I knew it was really bad," Hewett said. "It's really sad when you know that 200 feet from my driveway somebody was killed."

Charges have not yet been filed against the driver.

Alcohol and speed are being investigated as factors in the crash.
