GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4)– A jury has found a man guilty of kidnapping a teenager from a grocery store parking lot last year.
Dakota Holand was found guilty of kidnapping, robbery and theft following a three-day trial in Jefferson County.
Holand climbed into the back of the teen’s Jeep in the King Soopers parking lot, said he had a gun and made the 16-year-old drive him to Pueblo.
Once there Holand made the boy withdraw $200 from an ATM and then took off.
Police say Holand was captured in Aurora after allegedly stealing a car out of Canon City. Investigators said they aren’t sure how the suspect was able to travel from Pueblo to Canon City before then reaching Aurora.
His sentencing is scheduled for August.
