5 Sporting Events To Attend In Denver Before Broncos Training Camp Starts

DENVER (CBS4) - There's more than a month to wait before the Denver Broncos open up their Englewood headquarters to fans for Training Camp, so what's a Colorado sports fan to do until then?

The following are some sporting events you might consider attending that are coming up in the Denver area. One that you won't want to miss includes the return of a big star to his former Mile High City stomping grounds.

Weren't aware that Denver has a pro rugby team? Well, believe it. Denver is currently in first place in the Professional Rugby Organization, which is in its inaugural year. And second-place Ohio will be looking for revenge against the league leaders when they return to Infinity Park in Glendale for a rematch on June 19. Denver beat them here by a score of 16-13 in April.

Unlike in his previous seasons as manager, Walt Weiss says he feels like this Rockies team is going to get better as the season goes on. So plan a visit to Coors Field to cheer on the Rockies before the first half of the season is up. The Rox have several home series coming up, but none is bigger than when Toronto comes to town. June 27 will mark Troy Tulowitzki's return to Coors Field for the first time since last year's big trade that sent the well-liked Rockies veteran to the Blue Jays.

You can't beat a fireworks show at the conclusion of a sporting event, and if you're not so into soccer, perhaps a lacrosse game at Mile High with fireworks afterwards might be more your speed. The Outlaws are currently near the basement in Major League Lacrosse and could use your support!

The Sky Sox are moving to San Antonio soon, so don't wait too long if you'd like to get a chance to see Colorado's only Triple-A minor league baseball team play in Colorado Springs. Hot dogs are only 50 cents at the stadium on Sundays, so this afternoon matchup with the Iowa Cubs would be a great one to bring the whole family to.
