Man Dies After Raft Overturns On Roaring Fork River

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4)- A man died after the raft he was in overturned on the Roaring Fork River near Aspen on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old man was with a group of five other rafters and a guide when the raft overturned just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. The raft, operated by Aspen Whitewater Rafting, overturned near Stein Park immediately outside the city limits of Aspen.

Two people needed help getting out of the water. Emergency responders performed CPR on the victim after rafting personnel had started the procedure. Unfortunately resuscitation efforts were stopped and the man was pronounced dead.

The victim has not been identified.

The exact sequence of events leading up to the raft overturning is under investigation.
