Attempted Murder Suspect Crashes During Police Chase

NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Northglenn are investigating an attempted homicide that took place at a home overnight.

Officers responded to the 500 block of East 116th Avenue after an emergency call came in about a burglary.

When they arrived they found a woman inside the home with gunshot wounds and the male suspect was seen driving off on a motorcycle. Police chased the motorcycle to Interstate 25 and 84th Avenue where he crashed and was seriously hurt.

Police said the man had a gun with him when he crashed.

Northglenn police said in a statement that the 911 call indicated "the reporting party told dispatch her ex-boyfriend was attempting to break into her home and had fired shots."

The names of the man and woman haven't been released. Both people were in the hospital after daybreak on Monday.
