The shooting happened at a home on Hudson Street near 36th Avenue.

Young children at a church gathering down the block heard the gunshots ring out.

"I'm definitely afraid for my kids right now," said Alecia Whitney, who was at home with her kids when police flooded the area. "It's really sad for three people to lose their lives."

Officers responded to a 911 call to find one man had been shot in the arm. Officers discovered two other men shot to death inside of the home.

Bullets also struck a fourth man, who died a short time later at a nearby hospital.

"It's our basic understanding that this event is a drug deal that has gone extremely bad. And as a result, we have three people that are dead, one person that is injured," said Tyrone Campbell, a technician with the Denver Police Department.

Suspects fleeing the scene of the shooting may have been what disturbed Kia Estes' dog just a few doors down.

"He was kind of barking at someone, two people running by the fence, and growling. And then after that, all the cops started showing up," said Estes.

Christine Angelica got home from shopping to find her neighbors standing outside.

"It felt good to know that everybody was kind of looking out for each other, and we all responded quickly. And the ambulance was here fast enough to grab a bunch of people quickly," said Angelica.

Police were working to identify all of the victims.

Investigators were looking for persons of interest in a 2015 maroon Chevy Tahoe that may be headed out of state.
