Investigators: Murder Victim Burned Beyond Recognition
DENVER (CBS4)- Court documents have revealed disturbing details in the murder and arson investigation at a bagel shop in Denver's Five Points neighborhood.
Brian Scott Pattison, 30, has been arrested and faces murder and arson charges as well as multiple weapons charges.
The crime happened on May 2. Investigators say Pattison shot Shane Richardson, 29, who lived above Rosenberg's, a bagel shop at Welton Street and 26th Avenue in Denver's Five Points neighborhood.
According to affidavits reviewed by CBS4, investigators found a gas can on the floor where the fire may have started. Richardson's body was burned beyond recognition.
A bullet, fragments and a cartridge casing were found inside the apartment.
Then Pattison allegedly set the building on fire to cover up the murder. Richardson's body was found stuffed in a closet by firefighters who put out the fire.
The victim's missing motorcycle was located at a family member's home but police believe the missing Subaru was taken by Pattison.
