By Matt Kroschel

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Memorial Day Weekend signals the unofficial start to the summer travel season in the High Country. Despite forecasted snow Thursday night, things look like they will be above average for the year.

"We are super excited about the summer season, it is looking great an 8% increase what we saw last year," Breckenridge tourism's Rachel Zerowin told CBS4 Thursday.

Mountain towns typically known for the winter activities are making a larger push to attract visitors during the spring and summer months.

"Mountain towns are throwing down you know pretty much every weekend there's going to be something happening," Zerowin added.

This summer season comes off a record winter season at Colorado resorts, bookings beat past years by more than five percent.
