'Oatmaha!': A Peyton Manning-Themed Beer Is Coming To Denver

Bryan Altman

Broncos fans looking to continue basking in their team's Super Bowl victory are in luck as a new line of savory suds are being released that honor the team's recently retired quarterback, Peyton Manning.

Denver brewery Factotum Brewhouse are working in conjunction with Indianapolis brewery, Tow-Yard Brewing Co. on a limited edition beer/can combination as an homage to Manning's patented 'Omaha' calls at the line of scrimmage, according to the Denver Post.

The paper says that the idea for the beer was conceived by Factotum Brewhouse co-owner Laura Bruns and her brother Christopher, who moved from Indianapolis - Manning's home for the first 13 years of his career - to Colorado for school.

The beer, which will cost $15 per six-pack, is only available at the Factotum tap room in Denver and will be released beginning on Friday.

While they avoided using Manning's name and likeness for "legal reasons" the beer still embodies the legendary signal-caller through its name and its ingredients.

From The Denver Post:

"Oatmaha contains oats to represent the horse-themed mascots of the two teams in which he's played for (Colts and Broncos) during his professional career. To define Indiana, the brewers incorporated corn, while sage expresses Colorado.

Oatmaha is 6.7 percent ABV with 38 IBU. It is a "light and easy-drinking pale ale," according to a news release — something aimed for Manning's palate after he said he wanted a Bud Light during a January 2014 post-game press conference."

Of course, the story added, that if Manning ever happened to drop by the brewery to try 'Oatmaha', the first round would be on the house.

Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he'd gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
