Westminster Man Arrested In Connection With Wife's Death

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Westminster arrested a man in connection with the death of his wife.

Officers rushed to the 5800 block of 94th Place about 6 a.m. on April 28 on reports of a possible suicide.

The male, later identified as Gary Lee Nickal, told authorities he heard a gunshot and found his wife unconscious on the floor.

When officers arrived, they noticed the physical evidence didn't match the story Nickal, 38, was telling them. At the time, the couple's three young children were in the home. They were not injured.

The next day, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Nickal on a first-degree homicide charge. The victim has been identified as Molly Jean Nickal, 35.

The children are currently with family members.

Nickal remains in custody at the Jefferson County Detention Facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m.
