Carrie Fisher Backs Out Of Denver Comic Con, But For Good Reason

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Comic Con on Wednesday announced that actress Carrie Fisher will no longer be attending this year's June 17 to June 19 event at the Colorado Convention Center.

"Carrie Fisher will be filming Star Wars Episode 8 over Father's Day weekend and will be unable to attend Denver Comic Con 2016," Denver Comic Con posted on its Facebook page.

Fisher is also known for her roles in Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally, and Shampoo, as well as being a bestselling author.

Denver Comic Con already has an impressive lineup for this summer, which includes Stan Lee (Marvel Comics), Ralph Macchio (Karate Kid), C. Thomas Howell (The Outsiders), William Zabka and Martin Kove (Karate Kid), and Jenna Coleman and Alex Kingston (Doctor Who) among many other comic book creators and pop culture celebrities.
