CBS4 Honored With 2 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards
DENVER (CBS4) - RTDNA, the Radio Television Digital News Association, on Tuesday announced the winners of its regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and CBS4 Denver was honored in two categories.
BREAKING NEWS: CBS4 entered a sample of work from the shooting at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. It included clips of Jim Benemann anchoring rolling breaking news coverage with live reports from Karen Morfitt and Melissa Garcia on scene and Stan Bush at the hospital.
NEWS DOCUMENTARY: CBS4 entered the Brian Maass documentary, "Inside the Investigation: Harold Henthorn." The program, from Maass, photojournalist Kevin Hartfield and producer Mark Ackerman, details the remarkable case of a husband who had two wives die in "freak accidents."
"It's very special to win a Murrow Award in these two important categories," said News Director Tim Wieland. "These entries demonstrate why we're so proud to be called Colorado's News Channel."
CBS4 will now be considered for a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast and Breaking News.
