Students Get Search-And-Rescue Experience Inside Burning Building

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) - Students learning the basics of firefighting put their new skills to use this week.

Students in the Douglas County School District enrolled in a program called Fire Science had to do a search-and-rescue scenario inside a burning building on Monday.

The students trained all year for the experience at the South Metro Fire Rescue Training Center in Parker.

Student Evan Davros told CBS4 has plans to become a firefighter after he joins the military.

"It's a great thing to get a jumpstart on, that way when we go to academy we already know, have a good idea of what we're doing and stuff like that."

Littleton firefighters work with the students throughout the program, and were on hand Monday for training and safety.
