DENVER (CBS4) – The University of Denver Pioneers headed out to Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday to prepare for the Frozen Four. If they win Thursday night’s game they go on to the championship on Saturday. And a lot of them gave up their razors for this game.

The DU Pioneers aren’t letting anything go to chance, this year some of the players are sporting playoff beards. Some players take it more seriously than others. But it seems everybody is in agreement on who has the best facial hair.

”I take a lot of pride in mine, I really do. I think our goalie, Tanner Gillette, might have me beat, it’s pretty close. But I think it’s two of the best in college hockey, so I’ll take that for sure,” said DU Pioneer senior defenseman Grant Arnold.

“For sure not me, I’d probably go with Tanner Gillette, he’s killing it, he’s killing it. I can’t wait to shave this,” said DU Pioneer senior forward Quentin Shore.

DU faces North Dakota on Thursday in the National Semifinals at Tampa’s Amalie Arena. If they win, they head to the championship game on Saturday.
