More High Country Snow Means Ski Resorts Extend Season

VAIL, Colo. (CBS4) - At least one industry is happy to see all Colorado's March snow. Three ski resorts have announced they are extending their seasons.

Vail Ski Resort announced it's expecting to stay open until April 17. The original projection was to close on April 10.

"We've been very fortunate to have two feet of snow in the last week or so, 25 feet this season, and we're extending the season," Sally Gunter with Vail Resorts said. "March tends to be our snowiest month and it really has delivered this year."

"It's great, there aren't many people and there is so much snow," a skier said.

There were a lot of people upset that there was such an early closing date this year.

"I thought that was so early. It was about a week earlier than usual … I know that there are other places that stay open but I always like to ski at Vail," the skier said.

For skiers and riders, the seven extra days to use their passes makes the Epic Pass price these days easier to swallow.

"I didn't know if I was going to get back up but now I definitely will," the skier said.

Copper Mountain will run lifts through April 24th and Mary Jane will be open until May 7. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland have yet to set closing dates.
